Over at Tech.co.uk, they list the top five things they’d change about the Apple iPhone. It’s an interesting examination of the iPhone’s specs and launch details that may or may not shoot Apple in the foot when the iPhone is released in late June.
So far, the consensus is that the iPhone is indeed an innovation in mobile aesthetics and touchscreen usability, but the features (from battery life to camera quality) are by no means its strong selling points. In fact, some of the specs are hardly what you would call worthy competition for the current batch of smart phones on the market.
In the process of possibly shooting itself in the foot, the two silver bullets may be its closed system and exclusive distribution with Cingular (in U.S.). Closed system meaning that third-party software and games are virtually shut out. Apple, and only Apple, can decide what software goes into your iPhone. And that has many people unanimously frowning in disappointment. I guess we’ll see in the long-run what the outcome will be.
